My Experience

I started acupuncture, and have been using it on an ongoing basis, for lower back pain as well as arthritis in my knees. Along with the acupuncture, I take Tylenol for pain and swelling.

The Chinese practitioner asked me a huge number of questions, such as the color of my teeth and my level of balance. I then lay down and they put a heat light over me. They began to insert needles all over my body. There are specific reasons for why the needles go in specific areas of the body. They go in the earlobes to decrease food cravings, and in the stomach for your liver. It is a whole body experience; it is a holistic approach to make your body more balanced. I lie on my stomach for 15 minutes with the needles in, then flip, and lie on my back for 15 minutes with them in. There is no pain felt by the needles and I do not really feel any different after leaving the office. However, what I have found is that I do not feel any pain anymore; I can jump in and out of the car and feel no pain. It is a good feeling not to be achy anymore.

I have been seeing the acupuncturist every other week but once my body is in a better place it will be a monthly procedure. I am also working with a woman to sustain a well balanced diet and focus on exercising on a regular basis so my yin and my yang are happy.

My Advice

I started acupuncture for my arthritis and back pain but have realized that it has made my whole body feel better. This is a natural and successful way to come to an inner peace with oneself as well as relieve pain in the body as a whole.
