My Experience

My lower back was hurting, and my sinues were bothering me. I discussed how I felt with the acupuncturist. I told him my sinuses were clogged and causing headaches and I had low energy. I also told him about my lower back, which was hurting several times a week. Also, my tendonitis in my left elbow area. He then asked my to lie on the table face up, rubbed portions of my feed, arms and legs with alchohol where he was going to put in the acupuncture needles, and started putting them in. I have had accupunture before and sometimes it stings a bit when they put in needles; this time I didn’t feel anything. Maybe he was using very thin needles, or had a great technique. In fact, I looked down because I couldn’t believe needles were in but there they were there. I then relaxed for about 20 minutes and he took the needles out.

Afterwards, I felt extremely relaxed. My head and body felt “buzzy.” He said I might be congested for a bit before I felt clearer, and he was right. My body hurt before, and the one session had a positive impact on feeling better and having more energy.

My Advice

Ask the acupuncturist as many questions as you want, and be clear about your goals. Also, take deep breaths while the needles are being inserted. If needles bother you, ask for the smallest width needles.
