My Experience

I went in on a weekly basis for several months. The practitioner welcomed me into a small room, had me remove my shirt, laid me down on a table, and began inserting needles into various parts of my neck, arms and chest. He’d vary their positions week to week. In some cases, I’d be on my stomach, but usually I was face up. Then he’d leave the room for 20–30 minutes; it was very relaxing, so I often fell asleep. He was also very friendly, so we’d talk a lot (mainly about politics), which helped put me at ease.

Overall, it was extremely relaxing, but it did nothing for my pain. After several months, the practitioner admitted as much and suggested I stop seeing him. I appreciated his honesty.

My Advice

While it didn’t work for me, I believe in the value of acupuncture, so I would recommend it.
