My Experience
I started seeing a chiropractor after I was in a car accident and experienced whiplash. After I had my two children and was carrying them a lot, I started going more regularly.
During each visit I remained fully dressed. The chiropractor asked why I was there and asked me to lift each knee to check for mobility. Depending on my symptoms for each visit, he would perform a specific adjustment. I lay on a table and positioned myself according to the adjustment for that day: sometimes I would be face up, face down or on my side. The chiropractor would then move my body in a specific way and press down lightly. He asked me to take a deep breath and then exhale. Sometimes, if I were being seen for a muscle spasm or local pain, he would apply heat or ice to the area and use electric stimulation; this felt good.
After the procedure I felt great. I would often feel immediate relief. Sometimes, though, I would have some soreness that evening and the next day.
My Advice
Make sure you go to a reliable chiropractor people recommend and trust. Relax and breathe while your body is being manipulated.
