About the rating

I had deep cavity that needed to be cleaned out and covered with a crown.

I signed in and waited in the waiting room for a few minutes. I was then called in to the office. A dental assistant put on movie for me and gave me headphones. The doctor and his assistant numbed the area with Novocain and then waited for approximately 20 minutes for it to take effect. The dentist then began to drill and put on a temporary crown. The procedure took about an hour to complete. Afterwards, I was numb for about two hours. I then had some mild discomfort that was quickly relieved with ibuprofen. The tooth was somewhat sensitive to hot and cold for a few weeks.

I had to go for a second appointment two weeks later to get the permanent crown put on. No Novocain was necessary. The procedure took about 45 minutes and there was no pain.

My Advice

Getting the crown was time consuming but relatively painless; don’t put it off if you need it.
