My Experience

I had polyps blocking my nasal passage and chronic sinus congestion. My doctor recommended polyp removal and turbanate reduction.

Prior to the surgery I had a CAT scan. On the day of the surgery I checked in at the hospital. A nurse went through paperwork with me and reviewed the procedure. I then waited to be called back for the surgery.

I changed and went into the OR. An anesthesiologist administered general anesthesia. I woke up in the recovery ward and very drowsy.

My wife helped me to the car and drove us home. I did not need to use painkillers. As instructed, I irrigated my nose with spray and used a Netti pot regularly to flush out blood clots. I was able to work from home four days after surgery. I went back to work the following day.

My Advice

Ask your doctor about the importance of irrigating your sinuses regularly after the procedure to help them heal.
