About the rating

I had endoscopic sinus surgery and septoplasty because I was constantly getting sinus infections and I was always feeling like I couldn’t breathe normally. Being constantly stuffed up affected the quality of my life: the doctor recommended sinus surgery with a septoplasty.

Before scheduling the surgery I had a CT scan using what looks like a helmet that they use to help with guidance in the surgery. It was easy and pain free.

From walking into the door at the doctor’s office, I knew I was in good hands. I had seen the doctor many times and he explained everything I needed to know to prepare for surgery. He answered all of my questions and I never felt rushed. Having this relationship and confidence made walking through the hospital doors on the day of surgery relatively worry free.

I felt fine after the procedure. I was expecting to feel pain for a few days after, but the following day I felt fine. To keep up with the nasal cleanings I had to rinse by nose out twice a day with warm water and salt, and use a nasal mist 4 times a day until my follow up appointment.

My Advice

Ask your surgeon as many questions as you have and establish a comfortable relationship with him or her.
