My Experience

I was pregnant with my second child and arrived at the hospital in active labor. I was taken to the Labor and Delivery waiting area where they had me wait for a delivery room. After 10 minutes, I went to my room with a nurse where she left me to change into a gown. My labor was fast and furious. I was alone for a few minutes and panicked with pain. When the doctor arrived, shortly after, there was no time for an epidural and barely enough time for an IV. My water broke and the baby crowned all within a few minutes. With one push from me and a pull from the doctor, my daughter was out.

Afterwards, I was tired, stunned, overwhelmed and famished. I rested and ate to recover.

My Advice

Get to the hospital early and have an epidural.
