Reiki, a form of energy medicine, seeks to balance energy fields in a person and thus improve health. The practitioner delivers the treatment by placing their hands on or slightly above a fully-clothed person’s body, and using various hand positions, intends to affect the energy of the person they are treating. In Japanese, “rei” means “universal spirit” and “ki” translates as “energy.” “Reiki” is often translated as “universal life energy.”
