Stay on top of your pain medication schedule; recovery can be painful, so it important to keep the pain managed.

If you have a difficult time tolerating some of the pain medications, talk with the pharmacists about ways to prevent an upset stomach. Also, have a way to contact your physician quickly in case it is necessary to try a different medication.

Have someone to help you for at least several days after the surgery.
