Stem Cell Donation

(Donating stem cells for use in transplantation)

Home > Procedures > Stem Cell Donation

Stem cells have the potential to develop into many different kinds of cells in the body. If there is a problem with someone’s cells — such as cancer — doctors may try to destroy the non-normal cells and replace them with stem cells. The most common methods to do this are via allogeneic stem cell transplant where the new stem cells come from a donor and autologous stem cell transplant where the stem cells come from the patient.
