My Experience
I had to have two top teeth pulled because the roots were bad. The plan was to replace the teeth with a bridge. I first had my gums numbed with gel, and then with a Novocain injection. My dentist then started pulling the teeth. I heard some crunching as each tooth came out; it was a bit uncomfortable as you feel the pressure of the tooth coming out, but I had been given headphones before the procedure and was watching a movie and this was nice because it took my mind off what was going on. There was a little bleeding once each tooth was out. My dentist put stitches in, and then he put in gauze. The bleeding stopped after about 30 minutes. I was told to rinse with salt water every three or four hours afterwards.
I went back a week later to get the stitches out. I just opened my mouth and he cut out the stitches, there was nothing to it, no pain or discomfort.
My Advice
Request headphones (or bring your own) for music or a movie during the procedure to distract you.
